The Tae Kwon Do Club at UCF is  hosting a martial arts challenge in the Ferrell Commons Auditorium at the University to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. The major sponsor is comBATON, the martial team sport who also sponsored the event last year. Martial artists of all ages and levels can participate in the event in which athletes are timed in a sequence of challenges.

The 6 challenge course includes physical accuracy, jumping, kicking, sprinting, agility, takedowns. As a example of a challenge, the takedown requires the contestant to kick a grappling dummy held by a official and execute a full takedown.

Registration starts at 8 am August 28, 2010 at UCF’s Ferrell Commons Auditorium located on Gemini Blvd. South at the University of Central Florida.

Warrior Sparring Set

Karate Depot donated a Warrior Sparring Set as one of the Martial Artists Fighting Hunger prizes. The event is going to be held at the University of Central Florida on August 28, 2010. The TKD Club at UCF is the hosting school. Competitors will be on the clock as they complete a series of challenges. Afterwards there will be a comBATON combine game. The cost of admission is 2 or more cans of food and $5.oo. The purpose of the event is to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank.

We will have a Martial Artists Fighting Hunger event at UCF on August 28, 2010 from 9 am until 3 pm. The Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida will benefit from the food and donations we collect. More details will follow as we get plans put together.

Master David Turnbull, tournament director for Martial Artists Fighting Hunger, will be holding a Grand Opening for his new school in Sanford, Florida on March 13, 2010. Master Turnbull’s students include over 100 state and national AAU Tae Kwon Do champions. He and his wife, Master Wendi Turnbull, incorporate character development into their classes and consistently reinforce the five tenets of Tae Kwon Do: Courtesy, Integrity, perseverance, Self Control and Indomitable Spirit.

The school is a traditional dojo with fully matted floors, flags, water cooler and caring instructors. There will be refreshments and give-a-ways as well as demonstrations of all of the arts taught at the school. In addition to TaeKwonDo, the curriculum includes Martial Arts Football [comBATON,] Yoga , Ju Jit Su, Tai Chi, Weapons and Cardio Kick Boxing.
